The Challis Skirt
The Archive of Beauty.
Just south of Como, Italy, in the shadow of the Swiss Alps, eternal beauty has been secured in a vault.
70 years ago, Antonio Ratti’s penchant for meticulous record-keeping combined with his love for all that is luxurious and beautiful resulted in the Ratti Archive—400,000 pieces of luxurious fabric and their original proofs and drawings.
This of course was most likely in preparation for the metaphorical (or literal) meteor-hit, the same kind of disaster that killed off the dinosaurs.
Once the dust settles, the next batch of ants might discover this vault, perhaps even this exceptional piece of rich and sultry paisley. If they are lucky, a bottle of Napoleon’s cognac will be there too, and they will realize that at one time, we too possessed incredibly good taste.
The Challis Skirt (No. 5450). If timeless elegance has a family tree, we followed it all the way down to the roots. 100% wool challis sourced from the sacred vault in Italy. Two trocas shell buttons at left waistband. Silky stretch lining in solid rust color. Low-calf length, side pockets, invisible zipper at left side below waistband. Imported.
