Sweetheart Lace Nightgown
So This Is Paris.
1951. Just after dawn.
A woman steps out onto a balcony in her nightgown, this one a flutter of poinsettia red. At street level, heads turn. Across the street, the bake shop window opens, but the boulanger, busy setting up for the day, doesn’t notice. He’ll catch up.
“Is that Myrna Loy?” someone whispers (in French, of course).
There’s a smile at play at the corner of her mouth, a breeze at play with her curls and the hem of her skirt. Nothing scandalous, but nonetheless unforgettable. This is how hearts break.
Can she really be unaware of the stir she’s caused below?
Oh, she’s aware.
