Alpha Female Skirt
The Alpha Queen.
The sophisticated alpha woman is a potent female form—intelligent, ambitious, worldly, elegant. You know these women, sometimes by first name only.
Not coincidentally, the game of chess is a prime example of a dignified alpha female.
The queen, the most powerful and imposing piece on the board, can go anywhere and do anything. The queen is allowed numerous privileges. She is the exception and the rule(r). If there was a VIP in chess, she would be it.
Of course, this was not always the case.
Prior to Isabella I of Castile, a very exceptional alpha female and probably the most accomplished regnant queen you’ve never heard of (yes, some of you have), there wasn’t even a female piece on the board let alone one that protected the king (he’s the weakest in terms of mobility; surely this has been psychoanalyzed by someone).
So, while Isabella sent Columbus off to discover new worlds, unified Spain, and was tough on crime, she was also responsible for changing the thinking person’s most favorite and famous game with the creation of a female piece in her own image.
From one alpha to the next…
Alpha Female Skirt (No. 5943). Regal, dignified, and acceptably sensual fitted A-line skirt. Lovely Edwardian-era eight button front with crochet lace panels lined in nude. Drapey rayon twill fabric. Back shaping darts. Lower-calf length. The ensemble calls for tucking the blouse into the skirt as to show off your penchant for exquisite detail. Both items are, however, versatile enough to mingle with other subjects. Imported.
Pairs well with The Alpha Female Blouse (No. 5942).
