LC America's Sweetheart Capris
Springtime in Nashville, 1967. She was singing that day at the Ryman (before it was redone). Scent of honeysuckle outside.
I can still feel it: her voice cutting clear through those parts of me that didn’t yet understand the soul in country music.
She wore a relaxed, feminine plaid shirt like this one. Didn’t like to look like she was trying too hard (no shoes, either).
Last year, at a little estate sale in Hillsboro, I saw this and remembered. (Luckily, the hipsters there were more interested in the locally sourced burritos.)
What do you remember about that spring?
America’s Sweetheart Capris (No. 4245). Breezy. Just the thing for sticky Nashville nights. 100% cotton (enzyme and stone washed for softness). 100% cotton sheeting at waistband facing. Zip fly (antique brass) and waist darts. Front slant pockets. Faux horn buttons at center front and back pockets.
Length of inseam is 24 ½
