Nostalgic Puff-sleeve Blouse
It’s not what the Gibson Girls wore, not even close. For starters, there’s no swan-bill corset to constrain normal breathing patterns (whew). Still, the puff sleeve you see here is a subtle nod in their direction.
The Gibson Girls, as artist Charles Dana Gibson depicted them, claimed certain freedoms for themselves. They cycled in Central Park. Entered the workplace. Attended college. They were confident, calm, independent, beautiful.
An iconic blouse emerged with a bit of architecture at the shoulder to give it structure. Oomph.
A hundred years on, and we’re still fans.
Would the Gibson Girls approve?
This blouse doesn’t mind asking the question.
