A knock at the door. One of my assistant merchants, an expectant look on her face.
“Mr. Peterman, may I show you something?”
She holds up this silk blouse. “Recognize it?”
“I’ve seen the jawline before. Is that Ingrid?”
“That’s right, Mr. Peterman, our best-selling Ingrid Blouse…it’s time to bring it back, and I’ve made just a few little changes.”
“It’s a little shapelier. Princess seams and darts. Slightly curvy collar. Smaller pockets, too. And pleats at the cuffs.”
“Nice, very nice, but I don’t think you can call this one Ingrid.”
“No problem, Mr. Peterman, I’m sure we’ll come up with something.”
Isabella Blouse (No. 2198). Much the same clean, classic feeling as its progenitor, updated for a new generation. Substantial midweight silk crêpe-de-Chine. Topstitched collar, pockets, and cuffs. Seven real pearlshell buttons down the front.
Good on the set, sushi at Nobu Malibu, puttering around the farmhouse kitchen in Italy. Imported.
