Roaring Twenties Purse
The Roaring Twenties.
Too much money, toomuch glitz, too much of too much. Art Deco, flappers, talkies, and “Harlemites” owning the “corner” at the Savoy Ballroom were as common as sliced bread (or at least would be when it was invented in 1928).
Of only slightly lesser cultural importance was the wonderfully glamorous design of small receptacles used to carry a lady’s necessities—a beautifully designed compact housing lipstick, a coat check tag, and maybe a cigarette case.
As excessive as the time was, the contents of a purse were quite reserved.
