Roaring Twenties Purse

No. 5903

The Roaring Twenties.

Too much money, toomuch glitz, too much of too much. Art Deco, flappers, talkies, and “Harlemites” owning the “corner” at the Savoy Ballroom were as common as sliced bread (or at least would be when it was invented in 1928).

Of only slightly lesser cultural importance was the wonderfully glamorous design of small receptacles used to carry a lady’s necessities—a beautifully designed compact housing lipstick, a coat check tag, and maybe a cigarette case.

As excessive as the time was, the contents of a purse were quite reserved.

Roaring Twenties Purse (No. 5903). Gatsby-era, fully beaded purse with glass beads, rhinestones, and embroidery. Chain strap. Exterior slit pocket on back with interior patch pocket. Magnetic closure and flap. Dimension: 8 ½” W x 6 ¼” H. 48 ½” chain length. Imported.
