No designer ever stepped forward to take credit for it.

Nobody even knows exactly when it first appeared.

It's as if the players at Notre Dame, say, walked into the locker room one day sometime in the 1930s and found a pile of them on the cement floor, smelling of disinfectant, and each man instinctively picked out one that more or less fit, and never gave it a second thought.

Football is an evolutionary sport.

I kept seeing this sweater so often in old photos of college football teams that I had to get my hands on one. Took some doing, but I wanted it to be right. A simple but mysterious thing.

Who's that in the mirror... you, or George "Bad News" Cafego?

1930's Football Sweater (No. 1389). Made with a heavy, soft, pure cotton. Roomy. Ribbed cuffs and bottom. Oversized aged metal zipper. The hood is generous. Yarn-dyed stripe at upper arm. Imported.
