Midwest Brass-Button Shirt

No. 6069

Red Tan

GIFT BOX: (Add $6 dollars).

“Be prepared to find the next thing you didn’t know you needed.”

This is what the sign said outside the flea market in Shipshewana, Indiana. Population: about 700.

Town size: about a square mile.

Of course, only a place this small would host the Midwest’s largest flea market. Some people say it’s not what it used to be.

Maybe they’re right.

Or maybe they don’t know what they need.

I went looking for handmade quilts and old buckets.

I found a pair of suspenders held up by this shirt, probably worn by a local in the early 1900s, someone who worked as a streetlamp lighter, as a factory lector, or in some other profession from a bygone era (maybe a furniture builder or carpenter). Could have been someone’s Sunday best.

We are offering two colors (the original red plus a muted blue), and, of course, the brass buttons and front bib detail. You can wear this as your Sunday best or as a work shirt. Swell with jeans under a vest or jacket (or both).

Now you know what you need.

Midwest Brass-Button Shirt (No. 6069). Classic fit shirt in 100% cotton. As true to the original as we could make it. Yarn-dyed stripe pattern, flat felled seams, band collar, front bib detail, gathers at the cuff seam. Seven antique brass shank buttons down the front placket, single button at cuff. Imported.
