Classic Bermuda Shorts
They are only tangentially related to Bermuda and pink sandy beaches.
In reality, they are more closely related to British Imperialism (sorry, it’s history). To be more specific, the soldiers in the desert and tropics (including Bermuda) who deemed it too scorching for the standard issue trousers. The lads did the sensible thing and cut their pants which is why Bermudas look like dress pants in short form because, in operation, they are.
Back when men dressed the part at all times, the way your dashing grandfather did, they’d wear Bermuda shorts with a blazer, knee-high argyle socks, and spit-shined leather loafers.
If argyle isn’t your thing you can go with solid knee highs and a button down. They’ll be sporting this look on Bedford Avenue soon enough and you’ll wish you had the élan to get ahead of the curve.
If you are reserved in nature, don’t worry; you’ll do quite well in a tee or knit polo.
