STORY
Rugged Elegance.

Right off the bat I will let you know what this isn’t. This isn’t the walking jacket you take on your expedition to Antarctica. Nor is it something you wear in a torrential downpour. The marketplace is overcrowded with sleek sheaths in bright colors made of materials invented by people who hunt abominable snowmen.

This is different.

I’m not going to say it’s impractical because it is practical. It’s a substantial cotton akin to our English Travel Jacket. Sturdy but not stiff. The shoulders are reinforced for backpacks. There’s a removable hood, button chin strap and draw cord around the waist. These design elements help seal out the wind which, since the beginning of time, has made it its purpose to find the cracks.

Here’s what you get with this jacket that’s different: First, I suggest wearing an Irish flat cap. Once you’re done exploring (urban jungles encouraged) you will be able to walk into a restaurant, remove the hood, unzip your jacket a bit, maybe even turn up the collar, and enjoy the rest of your evening indoors. It’s a look worthy of exploration.

The 1950s Walking Jacket (No. 5073). 100% cotton. Fully lined. Point collar. Removable hood attaches to outer collar with three buttons. Two stacked buttons at chin strap. Sleeve cuff with adjustable button closure. Two double welt pockets at chest with metal zipper closure. Interior pocket on wearer’s left chest. On seam hand pockets on each side. Waist tunnel with cotton draw cord. Imported.
