French Herdsman's Knife

No. 3165

French Herdsman’s Pocket Knife. They built a town around this knife.

Laguiole, in southern France.

Unique design originated in 1829, engineered to last a lifetime. Made exclusively by Societé Laguiole. (One craftsman, one knife.) Hand forged stainless steel blade. Solid brass endcaps. Palisandre wood handle. With awl for poking holes in things (sometimes necessary), corkscrew added in 1880 when bottled wine became popular.

Streamlined. Efficient. A little masterpiece.

French Herdsman’s Knife (No. 3165).
