LC Ruffle Neck Sweater
The Maître d' at La Côte Basque isn't supposed to let you in. They turned away Nan Kempner in her evening pajamas. Nan Kempner, can you imagine? She fired back in that very Nan way by stating, 'You allow miniskirts but not pants?'
In the '60s and '70s high-end establishments had strict no pants policies for women.
This of course turned out to be a problem with the near parabolic ascension of wide-legged pants. We can thank Coco for discovering them in Venice in the '20s and liberating women from Victorian oppression.
Now here you are, dressed to kill, moving past the ogling maître d'.
The Ruffle Neck Sweater (No. 5111). Luscious silk and cotton blend. Sleeveless and fitted. Almost too dangerous to pair with these pants. Almost. V-neckline. 3/4' ribbing at sleeveless armhole and straight sweep. Coco would approve.
