LC Band Stripe Dancing Dress
(Let's Go Dancing)
What this really meant was, “Are you ready for the time of your life.”
The Italians have a way of sprinkling subtext into otherwise straight comments. And by sprinkle I mean douse, saturate and infuse via facial expression, tone or a mischievous glint in the eye.
The stagnant transforms into dynamic. The innocent becomes anything but. Like this dress. It smiles sweetly right at you, not at all the opposite of innocent.
But the way the bands hug the hips and bust, the way the banded bateau neckline and lack of sleeves reveal all the slender angles above the bodice as such form fitting pieces are wont to do, starts to suggest it might not be as innocent as it looks.
Then it gets moving and twirling like a ballerina and before you know it, it’s become so much more without at all being different from what you thought.
This skill is an art form.
She was Italian and this was her dancing dress.
