2-Man Wine Carrier (No. C453).

2-man wine carrier is known as a “Ballonge a vin.” It took two men to carry it filled with wine from one corner of the cellar to the other. Why are the barrels in question never adjacent to one another? Made of very old oak staves with iron hoops. Nicely stained with the memories of grand crus. France, ca. 1850.
