Mid-19th century elegant black cast iron umbrella stand. This is a rare example of the work of the Corneau Brothers with wonderful castings and exceptional detail. Impressed into the bottom is CORNEAU FRERES A CHAARLEVILLE. The brothers Corneau were blacksmiths who created a foundry in 1846 in Charleville-Mezieres, a commune in northern France located on the banks of the Meuse River. Ca. 1850-1865.
