This authentic conductor's lamp is made of painted steel and was used to signal the train crew on what to do. The top turns both directions and different colored lenses would have slid in front of the kerosene flame producing red or blue signals. It has the original large clear glass lens, but the interior colored lenses are missing. The metal oil font (reservoir) with its wick assembly easily slides out. The lamp is stamped with the manufacturers name, Christopher Collins Ltd. Manufacturers, Birmingham, and is dated 1917.
