Rare absinthe sugar bowl and saucer.. Sugar cubes were an essential part of the absinthe ritual wherein a cube was placed on a special pierced spoon which was placed over the glass of absinthe. Water was slowly dripped through the cube turning the absinthe a cloudy color. This silver plated set comes from the Café des Promendes, Tonnerre, France. Ca. 1910.
