Probably the greatest number of signs relating directly to any particular trade are those associated with the wool trade. The Worshipful Company of Weavers (1155) has the longest documented history of any city guild. Weaving played a vital part in the country's economy from the Middle Ages onward and cloth made in various parts of Britain has long been renowned for its quality.
Tetley. This is a brand of beer brewed in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, founded in 1822 by Joshua Tetley. It grew to become a large regional brewery with a number of "tied" public houses (pubs can be "tied" or "free." A tied house is bound to a brewery, and is most likely owned by the brewery and then leased to or managed by the landlord. In a tied house, the landlord or manager must sell what the brewery the pub is tied to offers and markets). Tetleys ran many public houses across the UK with a high concentration in Yorkshire.
The sign comes from a pub in Haworth, West Yorkshire, and is hand painted on metal, both sides, with a wooden frame.
