The J. Peterman Shirt.

(99% Thos. Jefferson. 1% Peterman.)

Thomas Jefferson disliked stuffy people, stuffy houses, stuffy societies. So he changed a few things. Law. Gardening. Government. Architecture.

Of the thousand castles, mansions, châteaux you can walk through today, only Monticello, only Jefferson’s own mansion, makes you feel so comfortable you want to live in it.

I think you will feel the same about his 18th-century shirt. Classic. Simple. Livable.

The J. Peterman Shirt (No. 2986). Made of 100% cotton. Generously cut. Imported.

Men's sizes: S (34-36), M (38-40), L (42-44), XL (46-48), XXL (50-52).

Blue Flannel Heaven
I ordered the blue striped shirt for my husband's 53rd birthday gift. It arrived quickly, and he loved it immediately, noting that it was very soft. The sleeves were even long enough for him - and that NEVER happens with store-bought shirts! It washed very well, and I hung it to dry overnight so he could wear it to work today. When I texted him in the late afternoon to ask him how he liked the shirt, his reply was, Thank you for the shirt. Feels great. Don't know if I want to go load a musket or take a nap in it. Maybe both. No. Greater. Review. Ever.

Awesome Steampunk Shirt
I love this shirt...wish there were more pull over type shirts. The only thing about this shirt is it is verrry long! However 3 or 4 minutes on the machine to adjust the length and it works perfectly. On the other hand if you don't want to take the time to adjust the length...you could always tuck it in, otherwise this shirt ranks up there in the perfection category. Thank you J. Peterman for the great eye.

Fits nice
The sizes as expected. Nice comfortable broad. However the buttons are far too big and create a little too much attention. And the fabric is a little bit to like flannel

The J. Peterman shirt is my favorite
The J. Peterman Shirt is my favorite. Yes, the fabric weight might vary from one color of shirt to the other, but the loose flow of the garment induces a sense of relaxation. i often wonder why our culture puts us into the straight jackets of suits, form-fitting shirts and constrictive neckties. This shirt is the antithesis of and the antidote to that constriction. I have four shirts: two of the pinstripe Blue Natural, one Chambray and one Black, which is no longer offered. The Blue Natural is like a heavier, Oxford cloth, very soft and substantial. The Chambray is a slightly lighter weight, and its color is a bit deeper than the view offered by the online photograph. I recently also bought the Black shirt, but I found it to be a lint magnet. It was my one disappointment and the reason I gave the shirts a four-star rating instead of five. J. Peterman appears to have discontinued the Black, a decision I support. Therefore, with that adjustment made, the Blue Natural and the Chambray each get five stars from me.

Happy
It is always difficult being confident when buying things on-line as you do not have it in your hand giving a good visual look over. My first J. Peterman shirt arrived 2 days ago and I got its first trial yesterday. I like it for what I wanted it for and the fabric is a very soft flannel. It will be fine in warmer weather as well as for use in weather when layering is important. Very pleased with this shirt.

Absolutely Perfect
This might be the greatest shirt ever. I can look in my closet and see 14 of these shirts. I wear them everywhere. I have almost every color ever made. They fit loose, which I love. If they have a new color I get it. I have several of these shirts of the same color. I have the sleeves shortened and wear them in the summer. Please continue adding new colors.

Great shirt, but runs large.
I just received my shirt, ordered it in Natural. I normally wear a large, my chest is about 44, with a 34 inch waist. I do not like my shirts to fit very form fitting, but neither do I like to feel like I am inside a tent. This one, felt like a tent. Easily, 5 inches material left over ON EITHER SIDE. Returning it for a medium, hoping that works well.

Gets better with every wear
I bought this shirt originally in the summer and couldnt wear it as much because its a warmer shirt. But now that winter has more or less arrived, I found myself wearing this more. Pulling it out to wear underneath my robe before bed, or wearing it under a sweater during the day. It runs a little big, but boy, is it comfortable. Its a wonderful shirt, looks nothing like anything else you can find out in the world today and is very comfortable. Im going to pick up a red plaid one before Christmas

Great shirt…..
This shirt does run large, but it is sooooooo comfortable!!! I have 2 and will be ordering 2 more in a week or 2. It also works well with layering - and I'm not a small woman…..

Make no mistake, I like this shirt a lot. I must admit however, that I was a little disappointed in the weight of the flannel. This is a stylish shirt and very attractive, but it will not be a warm shirt on a cold evening. Also, believe the description about gererously cut.

looks great but ….
I have the Petermen shirt in natural beige. It truly looks great but maintenance is not as expected. After washing I couldnt get the wrinkles out of it. Ironing was only partly successful so I guess Ill have to get it laundered from her on. Didnt anticipate that. It is as stated, cut full.

I am a woman and I love these shirts for myself! Great for layering or wearing alone. Only need to be fluffed in the dryer to wear. I buy a medium and it works perfect for me (any shirt/blouse/top in womans size through J. Peterman in a large/xlarge fits me perfect). Been a J. Peterman customer since 1995 and these are definitely keepers!

Womans review
So, like, Im a woman and I have 5 of these in different colors and patterns. The fabrics are all different textures and weights, but once shortened to accommodate my height, they are all wonderful. Well-made, easy care, and always get compliments.

A shirt with style and a taste of history
I have a few of these wonderful shirts. Every time I put one on I am asked where did you get that shirt, it is very nice. My answer, The J. Peterman Company. The response I receive is, where is the J. Peterman Company? I wish I had a handful of catalogs available to assist in showing how and where to obtain one. With that said, these are the most comfortable, most enjoyable shirts I have ever put on. Everyone should have at least a few in their wardrobe.

Not all the same
The first one I bought was the Blue Natural and the fabric was like a softer flannel and had some weight to it. So, I bought the natural - fabric was different as night and day (similar to the Otavalo shirt). Both are nice but I think the description should note the difference in texture.
