Luggage from the venerable firm of Swaine Adeney Brigg Ltd. has been favored by the English upper crust since the days of King George III.

It is rugged enough to survive decades of service under beastly conditions abroad. And more than distinguished enough to be observed boarding the R.M.S. Mauretania.
If you think Swaine Adeney umbrellas are the world's best, which they are, you ought to see their suitcases.
The Chesterford Suitcase (No. 1926), made to order for us by the same Royal-Warrant holder that supplies brollies and leather goods to the Windsors. Hand-crafted (a 6-to-12 week process) using bridle-hide leather tanned with English oak bark. Natural linen-thread stitching. Solid brass fittings.
The result preserves traditional style while adding a few sensible twists—wheels and retractable handles (scarce porters) and thick, protective canvas covers (automated baggage ramps at Heathrow).
