The gift of a robe from Tamerlane, the ruthless conqueror of practically everything in the 1300s, was a special honor.

You knew you had arrived in his good graces.

And you knew you wouldn't be executed any time soon.

Tamerlane was born in Samarkand, not far from where Uzbekistan weavers crafted the original robe.

Which I've made into a coat.

In case he's lurking in spirit, I've taken no chances in naming it.

Tamerlane The Magnificent Coat (No. 2522). Substantial cotton with distinctive stripe in same cranberry color. Embellished with floral and black braided edging. Relaxed armholes for casual and easy fitting. Lining is a festival of color. You'll think of reasons to open it more often. Three frog closures in black, another splendid accent.

A tilyakosh would be nice but it isn't required.

Wear this anywhere, and you'll do a little conquering of your own.
