“Le Petrin,” antique French dough bin or kneading trough. The trapezoidal shaped box, which closes with a hinged top, was used to proof/rise the bread dough mixture. A kneading trough is a biblical term for the vessel in which dough, after being mixed and leavened, was left to swell or ferment. Makes an unusual coffee table, side board, a foot of the bed storage piece. Made of European oak, France, early 19th century. French dough bin (C866). Dimensions: 28.5”H x 49.5”W x 23.5”D.
