The single most famous baseball bat in history.
It is, of course, the authentic Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger, painstakingly made to Babe Ruth’s May 29th, 1935, specifications: 36 oz. in weight, dry. Exactly 35" long. Surprisingly graceful at the grip, less so at the barrel.
(Built like the Babe himself.)
He first came down to Louisville to order bats in 1927. He hefted each one as it was made. They remember that he frowned constantly that day. He returned to New York skeptical, then went out to hit a world record of 60 home runs with them that year.
Babe Ruth Bat (No. 3224). A little piece of history that shouldn’t be lost. An instrument of quality made to the Bambino’s last order, before retiring, and so incised "R 1935."
When displayed, you can almost hear the crowd cheering, as Babe hits another one.
Hillerich & Bradsby certificate of authenticity included.
