Decidedly Slinky.

Fair Harbor, Fire Island, New York.

The last ferry carrying the last of the renters is slowly pulling out into the Great South Bay.

Even the seagulls seem thrilled.

(Not to mention the Siegals in the house next door.)

One of those magical fall weekends when you have the Island all to yourself.

I’m standing on a deck at sunset, having a conversation with a friend who said someone called her "slinky," and she wanted to know if it was a compliment.

Did she say, I asked, "You slink around?"

She laughed and said no.

I asked her if she was wearing the silky, slinky sweater she had on.

"How did you guess?"

Wasn’t long before I was slinking over to my drawing board and had a name for this sweater that she was kind enough to let me meticulously duplicate for you.

Slinky Fire Island Striped Sweater (No. 2775). Smooth, long and sleek tunic-length lines are the epitome of slinky. Especially in a substantial 7-gauge knit silk. My go to dress
This is my dress up casual attire for so many occasions. I didn't realize how much I wore it until I saw a retrospective of year end photos on Facebook. There I was in this wonderful dress in so many pictures! It fits so nicely and the sleeves are just the right length they don't get in the way. PLUS it doesn't wrinkle so the perfect throw it in the suitcase dress.

Not as expected
This sweater looked so beautiful in the catalog, but it really should be shown on a person. I was so excited to get it in the blue and black combination..The picture and the description are very misleading. I ordered a large since i wear a 12-14, but this was huge. It's also mislabeled, in my opinion. It is definitely a sweater DRESS, as it is way longer than a typical tunic length. I am 5'6 and this came down to my knees. So disappointed and don't think a medium will be that much shorter. Just something to be aware of if you decide to order it.

Nigh Perfection
I've (owned and) loved this sweater longer than I care to recall. It elicits so many compliments so many Where'd you get THAT?s, I began to feel I should wear a sandwich board bearing the legend: J, Peterman. 'Til now, I've never seen it offered again. It IS slinky or makes you feel so. The one thing I would change is to give it a full turtleneck there's enough fabric there already...a few twists of the needle, maybe. It still merits 5 stars, however.

As pictured, but runs large
I run between 14 and 16 on size and this dress in an extra large was too big. It is nice though and I re-ordered a size down, which hopefully will fit. The neckline is more rolling and limp than in the picture, but it is workable.
