In case you haven't heard, a committed group called the new Mandarin Collar Society wants to eradicate the tie.

"Loosen the noose! End the oppression!"

I'm not ready to be shanghaied completely, but I will say, the Mandarin shirt is one devilish idea.

It's now de rigueur to wear it under a jacket or suit to a formal occasion.

The original came from a little smart shop in, of course, Shanghai.
