Antique Italian pharmacy scale. The scale has equal arms with pans hanging below the beam. Weighing is achieved by placing known weights in one pan to balance the load in the other pan, and is correct when the beam is horizontal. The 8.25” beam is steel, the removable pans and stand are solid brass. The base with two drawers is wood painted black with gold pin stripe. The Manufacturer’s plaque is on the rear of the base and reads Flli AIMERITO, Torino, Via Cottolengo, Piazza E Fillberto 13. Italy, Ca. 1880.
