In 1810 the Peugeot brothers, Jean-Pierre and Jean-Frederic, converted a mill into a steel foundry and began making saw blades. By 1858 they were manufacturing tools for all sorts of trades, and household utensils, including the famous coffee mills. This table cast iron coffee grinder is original, complete, and fully functional. The wood handle and wood drawer with boxwood knob are original and show the wonderful patina of aged wood. There is tension key to adjust the grind. The mill is embossed with PEUGEOT FRERES, as well as BREVETES S.G.D.G. (patented, sans garantie du government, i.e., without government guarantee, a legal mention freeing the state from any responsibility for the proper functioning of the device.
