“Cruck” construction, an idea borrowed from Medieval monks, employs a “roof tree,” the central beam where the two sloping sides or “crucks” of the roof meet at the top. This is the concept that is illustrated on this Old Roof Tree pub sign.

Thwaites Brewery is a regional brewery founded in 1807 by Daniel Thwaites in Eanam Wharf Blackburn, Lancashire, England.
