1947 Dress.

The most flattering dress of the 20th century.

Full, sweeping skirt and shaped bodice, for artful emphasis on legs, hips, waist, and bust.

Rita wore it. Coeds and secretaries wore it. Your mother wore it. Women looked wonderful in it. Still do. And always will.

Unless the female form undergoes some kind of radical transformation.

Short-Sleeve 1947 Dress (No. 3579). Deliverance from the boxy, skimpy cut of WWII utility fashions. Pure cotton, with the same swinging sweep and sash ties as the short-sleeved version. Same V-neck bodice, darts at bust and waist. Lower calf length. Same notched collar to stand up pertly, if you wish. This one definitely belongs in your closet too. Imported.

Women's even sizes: 0 through 20.

Colors: Purple Floral, Berry.

Classy, Fun to Wear & Pockets!
My floral dress just arrived. Wore it to a dinner party and took in no less than 10 compliments. What's not to Love! Pockets thank goodness, wide belt that accents the waist and a style that flatters most of us. The floral is particularly colorful which allows many options for shoes and matching purses. The length is much longer on me as I am 5'4, but this is great because it hides my ugly veins. It fits true to size overall. I am a 36C and have no issues.

True All-American dress!
I have two of these beauties I'm what used to be called elderly at 75 years. How-ever, these two lady-dresses never fail to garner oohs and aahs from the gals at church (guys, too). Doesn't get better at my age (Big smile). Do bring out your high heels, ladies. It's worth it.

Classic, versatile shirtdess
I collect these, and love them. I went for the creamsicle orange one this time, and am please with the quality, color, etc. A great dress on a summer day when you want something lightweight, but need a little cover, e.g. many workplaces where you can dress casually. The fit is not optimal on me, but I'm not the easiest fir long-waisted and 5'4. This dress is short-waisted, but still works for me when I wear the sash, that covers the waist seam, and makes the waistline where look where it should be. The other thing that's not perfect on me: the dress is very long. I like a below-the-knee length, but this is almost to my ankles. I always have to plan to take it to the tailors to shorten. I'm sure a taller woman would like the length, but then again, it's a pretty shortwaisted dress. I'm not sure who the fit model is for size 6.

Dress #6
This is my 6th dress of this style. I have 2 with long sleeves, 2 with short sleeves (now 3) and two with 3/4 sleeves. Needles to say, I love this dress. I can't wear any of them without getting tons of compliments, especially from men (even young ones). So much class, the way women used to dress. Comment most often made you look like such a lady!

Compliments abound
I love this dress! I've gotten so many compliments. It's very stylish, feminine and so comfortable. I know I'll be enjoying this for years to come. Thank you for making clothes for women that shows we have a waist. Fits true to size. Great price.

Most beautiful dress of the century!
The dress fits me (size 4) perfectly and is so very becoming! I am a 40s' person, and this is indeed the style I wore as a girlmodified so that it looks good when the lady is 87. I have bought three of the style-one with long sleeves, two with short sleeves, and I am so delighted with them all!

Even better than I had expectedand my expectations were high!
I have the pink and black flowered, short-sleeve dress. The size 6 perfectly fits my size 6 figure. The sash/tie belt is wide enough/proportioned to complement and enhance the dress as well. The polished cotton is crisp and gives the skirt a very dressy, as opposed to relaxed or slightly wilted, shape. The hemI'm 5'4is close to waltz length/afternoon cocktail on me. It is flattering to figure and ankles. I'll be wearing this with low heels to brunches and to wine dinners with dressy pumps. It's so comfortable that it can also be an all-day dress. I should also mention, sigh, that I'm 72 years old and prefer not to show my aging arms. The bodice and short sleeves on this dress fit so well that my aged arms are not an issue. I love it and will most likely buy a 1947 short sleeveto wear with a sweaterand long sleeve for early autumn events.

Easy to wear
Splendid dress in every color and fabric. Classic design without trying too hard. Interesting finish to the cotton fabric. Love the cord version.

It went back
I had been eyeing this dress for years. When the floral pattern came out, I grabbed it! Unfortunately, it was not matched in anyway. Also the arm openings were boxy instead of rounded. They hit me in the arm, restricting movement and causing the dress to drape poorly. Sadly, it went back.

So flattering to your figure.
This dress runs true to size and does grand things for your figure. I like it so much that I have bought more than one! They used to have it in several solid colors. I was pleased to see the flower print and I bought it right away. I just love the 1947 style! Highly recommended!
