The Stendhal Syndrome.
Exposure to a large amount of art in a single place (named after the French writer Stendhal who suffered from it) is a psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion, and even hallucinations.
Strangely enough, my friend Jacques, who I was with at Grand Palais in Paris for the Monet exhibition, featuring over 200 of the master's paintings, was oddly unaffected.
But started breathing irregularly when he saw this dress in hot pink later on my invaluable French fashion maven, Monique.
