En route to the Cloud 9 Sky Lounge in Shanghai.
I'm in the elevator with a stunning woman wearing this blazer.
We get off on the 55th floor, and find a not-so-marked elevator to proceed to the 87th floor.
She could have been Chinese.
Or Thai.
Or French.
Or a combination of all three.
Natural for a city that has had many diverse cultural influences.
Further study, when we eventually get there, ensued, while she was greeting people, having a word here, a peck on a cheek there and an air kiss to me.
(We were old friends by now.) There are well-cut blazers and dramatic paisley patterns, but rarely have I seen the two together.
Madame X Blazer (No. 3264). A visit the next morning (well, late morning) to my impossible-to-find fabric man in Shanghai off Taikang Road down a dark alleyway to Lane 248 and I found the exact old French pattern. I had X's blazer done in a silk linen combination in a dobby weave. Other details: Notch collar. Three-button front. Two front besom pockets. Five-button cuffs aren't functional but act the part. Princess lines front and back with box pleat at lower center back. Fully lined sleeves.
I'm sure X would approve. Imported.
Women's sizes: 2 through 18.
Color: Mauve Paisley.
