In case you haven't heard, a committed group called the new Mandarin Collar Society wants to eradicate the tie. "Loosen the noose! End the oppression!" Only part of their catchy manifesto.
I'm not ready to be shanghaied completely, but I will say, the
Mandarin shirt is one devilish idea. It’s now de rigueur to wear it under
a jacket or suit to a
formal occasion.
The original came from a little smart shop in, of course, Shanghai. Shanghai Collar Shirt (No. 2537). Made of fine 100% cotton broadcloth. Urbane Mandarin stand-up collar for that stand-up fellow. Seven motherof- pearl button frame front. Adjustable button cuffs. Not a raw edge in sight. The utterly brilliant thing about it is you can also wear with jeans or khakis for a smashingly casual look. (I’ll check into the dues.)
Men’s sizes: S, M, L, XL, XXL.
Colors: Blue, White, Red, and Black.
Price: $95
