American Fur Company records show that between 1829-1834, leather belts were sold, not to hold up pants yet (that was suspenders) but to hold “stuff.”
Samuel Hamilton Walker, the inventor of the Walker Colt revolver, wore a belt like this to hold his revolutionary six-shooter invention.
Walker’s Belt (No. 3500). I designed it from old sketches. To get it just right, I had it hand-made in Italy with soft cowhide and nylon braiding. Antiqued silver finish buckle.
