English gentlemen had their butlers to organize their lives. Generals have their Chiefs of Staff to keep track of the details.

Where are our majordomos, our chargés d'affaires, our aides-de-camp?

We have PDAs. But I, for one, am unable to develop a sense of relationship with plastic and silicon.
