The return of Marcasite.

There was a time when gorgeous, lanky Josephine Baker, a shocking black American living in Paris would walk nude (except for a few bananas) across the stage and shock an audience that came just for the purpose of being shocked. She was seen later walking the boulevards with a cheetah on a leash.

Also along the boulevards, great swooping-fendered cars rolled by: Bugattis, Hispano-Suizas, Duesenbergs.

There was jazz in the clubs, in the streets, in the air.

Art Deco stepping on the heels of Art Nouveau, the Jazz Age was colliding with The Lost Generation. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

Meanwhile the Duke of Windsor was sulking, annoyed to no longer be king, looking over the shoulder of great jewelry designers and saying "Let's add another large emerald there, and a dozen more diamonds here." He wanted to give Wallis something nice.

Marcasite is a very beautiful iron pyrite that once, a long time ago, went into the making of very beautiful period jewelry.

The only thing wrong with marcasite was that people could afford it. So it was promptly discontinued.

I've decided to fly in the face of reason and bring it back. I'm hoping you'll like it.
