The flea markets of Southern France are unlike anything you’ll see in the states. In January (think fall in the US) when the mistral blows in through the Rhône valley it heightens every sense. Makes things smell and taste better. For example, there’s a sausage sandwich I indulge in every time I’m in Avignon. It’s totally mediocre in any other setting. But not there, in the path of the mistral. There, it’s perfect.
Proper settings require proper attire.
I always wear this vest while I’m there because it beads water and cuts the wind. It’s sturdy and sleek with lots of pockets. Good for treasure hunting. The Scotts use it when they hunt pheasant. I’m sure there’s a place that heightens your senses too. Somewhere secluded perhaps. A good fishing spot. A trail with a view. Where your version of the mistral clearly makes everything around you look, taste and smell better.
