Sleeveless Flirty 1947 Dress.

The most flattering dress of the 20th century.

Full, sweeping skirt and shaped bodice, for artful emphasis on legs, hips, waist, and bust.

Rita wore it. Coeds and secretaries wore it. Your mother wore it. Women looked wonderful in it. Still do. And always will.

Unless the female form undergoes some kind of radical transformation.

Sleeveless Flirty 1947 Dress (No. 2955), for warm weather, deliverance from the boxy, skimpy cut of WWII utility fashions. Pure cotton, with same swinging sweep and sash ties as the long-sleeve version. Same bodice with darts at bust and waist. Upper-calf length. Same notched collar and lapel to stand up pertly, if you wish.

This one definitely belongs in your closet too. Imported.

Women's sizes: 0 through 20.

Colors: Teal, Pomegranate Stripe.

Cut is different for a 1947
I own this dress in the short sleeve version which fit great. This dress has an odd cut on the large arm holes and the waist is cut very tight with gapping. The weight of the material is fantastic, the colors as usual remain the best! I regret sending my first dress back. Once I found my size in J P dresses, I can usually wear them all without an issue.

Arm holes boxy and large
I bought 3 of these dresses. The material and colors are nice. The arm holes are way too large. I can actually stick my forearm into it. It also doesn't curve along the line of the arm and chest, but is straight and instead hits the front side of the arm. Even being tailored it would look odd as it would mean an additional dart in the wrong place. They are going back.

Where do I start? The fabric is stiff and doesn't drape at all. There's no closure at the waist, so it gaps there unless covered by the sash. And the arm holes gape open (considering the smaller than expected fit at the waist, I don't understand why the armholes are cut so large). I'm returning this dress at once.

1947 dresses rule!
I purchased both the Pomegranate Stripe and the Teal in the sleeveless 1947 dress. I can't decide which I like better. I'm so fond of this style that I now have quite a collection. No matter what type of sleeve on a 1947 dress, I always get compliments from friends and strangers alike. The 1947 dress is classy without going overboard. It can be dressed up with jewelry and heels, but it looks great with flats too. 1947 dresses are well worth the price and they never disappoint. Grab them before they run out of your size.

Great dress, but it's going back
There is so much to love about this dress classic style, great fit, nice fabric. I own it in other colors and always get compliments. It's great for looking good in warm weather. But the color is the issue. I was happy that the butter color is a light yellow that was not too see-through (wearing my beige-colored underwear) as some light cottons can be. However, the color was kind of blah. I looked forward to a nice pale yellow, but this was almost French vanilla, and washed me out. I would quickly re-order this if it were a LITTLE more saturated or brighter. I hated to return it, but I did. I almost kept the dress to have it professionally dyed, but decided to let it go.
