Scottish Plaid Scarves

She's back, the cloche and the woman wearing it.

It's a cold December afternoon in Lucca, Tuscany, the bare vines of this Chianti vineyard ignite again as she returns from her stroll.

Her fingerless gloves are now mittens. Her wool scarf, now wrapped around her neck. Her cloche, now tilted ever so slightly.

To withhold is to engage. Reveal does not build intensity nearly as much as conceal. Reveal comes later, or should.

We all slowly drink our cafes on this villa's stone veranda, wondering and waiting. I have long suspected a cloche is even more mysterious than generally supposed.
