We’re in the heart of Gaucho Country in the vast, flat grazing lands known as Las Pampas, a few miles north of San Antonio de Areco. Miquel’s estancia is a modest 20,000 acres.
Eight guests (and I) have gathered around for an asado; eucalyptus, palms, casuarinas, and centenary oaks circle us like a blanket.
Warm breezes circulate the cooking smells of jasmine and beef.
Finally, Miquel saunters from the horse barn (with wine) wearing this timeless shirt that only I knew “looked” two decades old (I gave it to him new this morning before our ride).
His clothing contrasted his gathered guests’ bright colors and wealthy designs and said, well, said I think all he wanted to say.
Asado Shirt (No. 3728). Made with a soft, weathered, faded canvas. Corozo buttons. French seams. Point collar. Full-length sleeves, two-button adjustable cuffs.
