Cast iron panel embossed with double pillars, originally stood in the firebox in order to radiate heat back into the parlor. It was also designed to protect the brick lining while adding a decorative touch. Could be used today for the same purpose, or could be set in a wall as an interesting design element. Also makes a great stove back. Made at the foundry in St. Etienne, in central France. (Restored) Ca. 1850.
