Hare & Hounds.

Animal signs form perhaps the largest class of inn signs and are extremely popular all over the British Isles. The majority of them stem from the country man and the hunter. The primary reason for the amazing number of animal signs is the English man's natural love of them, and every beast and bird, real or imaginary, seems to figure as an inn sign somewhere. Hare and Hounds signs traditionally depict a hare hunting scene with a pack of beagles, the case with this sign. This is a wonderful hand painted sign by the British poster and sign artist, Donna Hartley. Her initials, dh, can be seen in red on the bottom right of the sign. It is painted on two sides on metal with a wooden frame.
