Very old, rare French cast iron panel embossed with a charming floral motif, originally stood in the firebox in order to radiate heat back into the parlor. It was also designed to protect the brick lining while adding a decorative touch. Could be used today for the same purpose, or could be set in a wall as an interesting design element. Also makes a great stove back. Made at the foundry in St. Etienne, in central France. (Restored) Embossed with the year it was made, 1733.
