Rare, very detailed farmer's scale from Lodeve, a midieval town in southern France. This highly necessary item was used for weighing small sacs of grain or seed. Solid oak base with cast iron, steel, and brass balance mechanism. Weighs up to 100 kilograms. Metal plaque with manufacturer's details: "Edmond Chameroy, Instruments de Passage, 147 Rue d'Allemagne, Paris.” Ca 1895. Condition, excellent, fully operational.
