High Back Alsatian Hod for Hops

Antique hod or back basket was used to gather hops during the harvesting season. It is made of split osier (willow reed) with an unusual braiding of hazel nut branches. It will stand on its wooden base, and would make a unique container for seasonal dried flowers. From Alsace, ca. 1890.
