Antique French enamel coffee biggin or pot. A biggin is essentially a drip coffee pot invented by George Biggins in the 18th century where the filter section containing the coffee grounds would have been removed after brewing leaving the lid atop the pot itself. The pot was made by applying a glass like finish of enamel to steel. Several coats were required for this quality piece. Ca. 1910.
