A young actress reads a friend's copy of the play Juno and the Paycock. "Deeply stirred," she later wrote, "I knew beyond doubt that I must meet the playwright.
And she did.
And he not only dedicated The Plough and the Stars to her but cast her in it.
(Some say she's still the best "Nora" to this day.)
For the opening night party, she needed something special to commemorate the moment.
And this cape dress was it.
I got it at a vintage auction in Dublin. The tag said Eileen Carey, her maiden name, before it was changed to O'Casey.
It didn't take her long.
Could've been the dress.
Eileen O'Casey Cape Dress (No. 2494). Reproduced it in a luxurious silk crepe de chine and made it fully lined. Easy to pull on and easy to pull off. Mid-calf length. Cape is 13" wide at center back and a beautiful thing that captures the period. Bias cut. Cape gives the illusion of cap sleeves. Cowl neck reveals you're not trying too hard, even though you are.
You'll find your moment. Imported.
Women's sizes: 2 through 16.
Color: Antique Navy Taupe Print.
