Remember Edward VIII?
Ruled for just 11 months before abdicating the throne in 1936 to marry Wallis Simpson.
Messy business. Much debate about that.
What's not debatable is his fashion sense. It was impeccable.
He took the high-collar, buttoned-up Victorian style ("heavy starch, please") and dressed it down.
Thanks to him, men started wearing checks and plaids, soft collars, tweed sport jackets, cuffed trousers.
His motto was "Dress soft."
I think we can all live by that.
