Pannier Mannequin Remois, champagne grape collecting basket, is from Reims. This large handsome basket was left at the end of the row of vines into which harvesters would empty their smaller baskets of grapes. Extremely rare. Our man in Burgundy, Philippe, finds a small cache of these once a year now. I have a standing order with him. Made of osier reed (willow) so the grapes will aerate. Ca. 1920.
